Back to reality

Although summer break ends in less than a month, I’m glad I had the opportunity to spend a week in the Pocono Mountains with my family. We shared a lot of laughs and fun experiences, and among the paparazzi that is the Ridinger family, we have many photos to prove it. Who knows when I’ll have or make the time to scrapbook this family vacation, so for now I’ll share my five favorite moments from the trip:

1. Spending time with Grandma and Grandpa

Although they couldn’t hike up a mountain or canoe 10 miles down the river, I enjoyed the time we spent with them during other moments of the trip. We shared meals each night in alternating condos; we played board games in the evenings; we went mini golfing and swimming; and of course, we gave them the scrapbook for their anniversary gift, something they seemed to enjoy very much.

2. Near constant laughter

Between my dad’s “jokes” (as we passed a bear statue on the right he said, “Bear right”), my Aunt Sue’s jumpiness and Matt and Jason’s incredible eating abilities, there was never a dull moment in our condo.

3. Canoeing along the Jersey Shore

More than four hours of canoeing with the guys was entertaining, to say the least.

4. Family time

It was great to get away and relax for a few days, but it would not have been the same with my family.

5. Bushkill Falls

Hiking along the Bushkill Falls trail was worth the $11 charge to simply hike along the trail. (Tourist trap?) The scenery was beautiful and very calming. The tall trees in the forest shaded us from the heat–also a good thing!

Scrappin’ away

“Vacation, all I’ve ever wanted…”

In approximately two weeks, the Ridinger family will take a week-long trip to the Villas at Tree Tops and Fairway in the Poconos mountains to celebrate my grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary. I’ve not only been anticipating this trip for months now, anxious to get away for a bit, relax and spend time with the family, but I’m also excited to share the scrapbook I’ve created with the help of relatives’ photos and letters.

I’m only a few pages shy from completing the 40-or-so-page book, and I can’t stop flipping through it. The pictures bring back a lot of great memories and make me laugh every time. I hope Grandma and Grandpa enjoy it as much as I do.

Below are a few photos of what I’ve put together so far. To view more pages, check out “My Work” page.
